Good news: Nashville is warming up, and locals everywhere are flocking to outdoor gathering spaces. One spot in particular has become a new staple for humans and dogs alike — Urban Dog Bar.
Wife-and-husband duo Rebecca and Austin Gauthier craved an environment where they could socialize without leaving their golden retrievers at home. To solve this, the duo proactively opened Nashville’s first combined bar and dog park in The Nations this past October. Urban Dog Bar gives pets a safe space to run free and play while their owners work remotely during the day and gather with friends at night.
“We’ve made some of our favorite memories sharing stories over drinks in our backyard, with Edley right by our side,” says Rebecca in a release. “We want that to be something anyone can enjoy, so we’re creating an even better version of that experience that’s more social, and with excellent food and entertainment.”
Every aspect of Urban Dog Bar is designed for pets’ comfort and enjoyment. Dogs freely roam around 15,500 square feet of mud-proof artificial turf, lounge in comfortable seating and benefit from areas designed specifically for small dogs. For a climate-controlled environment, pets can retreat to a 5,000-square-foot indoor area.
Along with facilitating a space for community, Urban Dog Bar’s event schedule is packed each month with trivia nights, large-screen showings of sports games and even pet meet-ups specified by dog breed. Take, for example, the Retrievers Meet-Up scheduled for April 21, where all retrievers get half-off entry and a free pup cup.
While visiting, guests can enjoy cocktails, mocktails, high-quality food and entertainment. Attentive service from the park’s “Rufferrees” anticipates dogs’ wishes by refilling water bowls and routinely tidying the space. If in need of refreshments, pets are offered homestyle dog meals and even dog-friendly beer.
Canine owners can purchase memberships or daily passes to enter the park, while pet-free guests enter for free. All dogs — big, small, shelter or rescue — can enjoy their time at Urban Dog Bar as long as their temperaments are healthy, their vaccinations are up-to-date and they’ve been spayed or neutered if over one year old.
