Completed in 1932, Cheekwood Estate & Gardens had a two-story brick garage that could accommodate six automobiles. The Cheek family fleet included a seven-passenger Winton Six limousine sedan, a wood-paneled Ford Woody station wagon, a Buick, a Packard, a Lincoln town car with wire wheels and whitewall tires, and a flashy 1931 green convertible Ford Roadster — pictured here with Leslie Cheek Jr., who received the vehicle as a gift upon graduating from Harvard University.

Automotive history comes alive at the 2026 Exposition of Elegance: Classic Cars & Motorcycles at Cheekwood, on view June 20-21. The exhibit showcases early- and mid-20th-century vehicles against the backdrop of botanical gardens and culminates in a one-mile “tour d’élégance” through the streets of Belle Meade.
