The Nashville Symphony and 2026 Symphony Ball co-chairs Haden Cook and Lynn Scarola have announced this year’s Harmony Award honorees: songwriter, performer and producer Mac McAnally and CAA agent Rod Essig. The award, presented by Amazon, will be given to the two music industry veterans at the 42nd annual Symphony Ball.

McAnally will also take the stage on the Amy Grant Performance Platform with Amy Grant, whose new album he produced.

One of the Nashville Symphony’s signature annual fundraisers, the Symphony Ball has raised more than $15 million for the organization since its debut in 1985. The Harmony Award was established the following year and recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to Nashville’s music community.

“I’m particularly proud to be recognized by the Nashville Symphony because they, like myself, have continually gone out of their way to honor and appreciate all genres of music,” McAnally says. “I believe music in all its forms has the power to unite us beyond any and all barriers, be [it] language, geography or politics. I salute the Nashville Symphony.”

Essig pointed to the relationship between Nashville’s music industry and its orchestra.

“Nashville has always been a haven for music of all kinds, and the connection between Music Row and the Schermerhorn is a vital one, as this summer’s amazing Dolly Parton tribute concerts proved,” Essig says. “I have worked with so many wonderful artists over the years, and I truly believe some of the finest musicians in the world are right here in the Nashville Symphony.”

The 42nd annual Symphony Ball will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, at Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
