Established in 1876 as the first medical school in the South for African Americans, Meharry Medical College is celebrating 150 years of advancing healthcare, education and social justice in 2026. Its anniversary theme, Forever on the Path, celebrates the legacy of programs and professional trailblazers leading the fight for health equity.
These photos from Meharry Medical College Library and Archives showcase the School of Dentistry and Dr. E. Perry Crump, a pioneering researcher in premature births and intellectual disabilities, who became the pediatrics department chair in 1950.
