In August 1925, a John Bouchard & Sons Co. team assembled in front of the newly completed Vanderbilt Hospital and School of Medicine (now Medical Center North), for which the company designed and installed a refrigeration and icemaking plant. (The company continues to service and build expansions there a century later.)

Founded in 1900, the family-operated John Bouchard & Sons Co. is still headquartered on Harrison Street and recently published a book chronicling 125 years and five generations of manufacturing and maintaining infrastructure — including JBS-stamped manhole covers and drainage grates — across the mid-South.
