Greenhouses Enliven Evergreen Eatery Park Café

If you’ve ever caught yourself scrolling Pinterest or Instagram and wishing you had the kind of life where you could dine “almost-al-fresco,” sheltered in a glowing greenhouse, in the quiet, cozy company of friends, then this update is for you.

Park Café, the longtime landmark of the Sylvan Park dining district, introduces two new greenhouses that can be reserved for private dining.

Opened in April, in the back area adjacent to the popular covered patio and fire-table, the two greenhouses provide private, “almost-outdoor” dining, at tables that seat eight – or more, depending on willingness to scooch together.

“Wisteria” and “Rose” houses take their names from elaborate floral arrangements suspended above the tables and mingled with chandelier lighting. Each twinkling outdoor room, with a decked floor, has its own mini-split heating-and-cooling, along with Bluetooth audio that can play a diner’s own playlist.  

Hint: For guests who find restaurant acoustics challenging – or for glitterati who crave privacy – the peace and quiet of a greenhouse might catapult tried-and-true Park Café to the top of Hot List. 

Guests can reserve “Greenhouse Experiences” through Open Table, and there’s no minimum dining required, though a 24% gratuity will be added to the bill.  

Park Café’s festive, floral greenhouses follow on the heels of winter’s vinyl-covered “igloos.” Sean Lyons, whose Up Hospitality Partners group owns Park Café, Germantown Café and Karrington Rowe, says the popular igloos might return later this year, at the rear of the covered patio.

Meanwhile, after taking over Park Cafe in 2023, Up Hospitaity has introduced lunch (and lunchtime happy-hour martinis), along with Saturday and Sunday brunch, while bringing over some favorites from Germantown Café, including French onion soup. And yes, the beloved 4-to-6 p.m. happy hour is still intact.
