vesper club

Sean McGee

The Continental, Sean Brock’s fine dining establishment at the Grand Hyatt Nashville, has already earned a reputation as one of the best new restaurants in the South, and now, with the introduction of The Vesper Club, they’re giving you yet another reason to visit. Launched on New Year’s Eve, The Vesper Club is an intimate martini and caviar tasting experience. For $100 per person, you can try five unique martinis, each expertly paired with a corresponding caviar. Bar director Jon Howard guides guests through the hour-long experience at the bar, preparing each martini tasting — roughly 1 ½ ounces apiece — as you watch. A mix of gin and vodka options, prepared shaken, stirred, thrown and frozen, each martini is served in vintage-style glassware hand selected by Jon and Sean. Guests aren’t given menus until the end of the experience so you can savor each pairing as it’s presented without any preconceived notions of what to expect. The Vesper Club is a fantastic way to start or end a meal at The Continental, or it can be booked on its own as a fun cocktail experience with a date or with friends.

What to Expect

When you arrive, you’ll be seated at the side bar, just inside The Continental’s entrance. Each of the five martinis will be prepared in front of you, poured from cut glass bottles so you have no way of knowing what spirits are going into each drink. The martinis and caviar are placed in front of you, and you’re encouraged to enjoy a sip of martini before and after you eat the caviar, so you can fully enjoy the flavors and notice how differently the cocktail tastes before and after.

What to Know

The Vesper Club is offered from 5-9 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. Reservations are required and can be booked through Resy. The experience lasts about one hour and costs $100 per guest.

What to Order

The beauty of The Vesper Club is that you don’t have to make any decisions. Simply show up, take a seat and let the adept bar staff guide you through a thoughtful experience that engages all five senses.
