As a Nashville native, Ivy Vick of Compass Real Estate has witnessed the city’s rapid transformation firsthand — particularly within luxury real estate. What was once considered an accessible Southern market has evolved into one of the country’s most dynamic growth stories, driven in part by an influx of out-of-state buyers and a lifestyle that continues to attract national attention.

As a Nashville native, you’ve had a front-row seat to this city’s transformation, how have you seen it evolve, and what excites you most about where it’s headed?

Watching Nashville rise as one of the nation’s top luxury growth markets has been a wild, wonderful ride. The absence of a state income tax and a still-affordable lifestyle helped fuel that growth. As prices have climbed, we’ve seen jaw-dropping custom homes and distinctive properties shatter records.

What excites me most? Wedgewood-Houston. After working on the ICON project in The Gulch, I had a front-row seat to what thoughtful redevelopment can look like. Wedgewood-Houston’s transformation feels like pure magic — a chic, dramatic revival of historic bones paired with architecture that has detail and soul.

On that note, you and your husband Jonathan have been actively redeveloping homes in Wedgewood-Houston. How has that hands-on experience shaped the way you advise your clients and evaluate a property’s true potential?

Nothing sharpens your eye like swinging a hammer — or at least overseeing the crew — in a neighborhood you love.

That hands-on experience taught me to look beyond beautiful staging and recognize true potential in building quality: solid bones, smart layout possibilities and hidden value waiting to be unlocked. It allows me to guide clients toward properties that are not only beautiful today, but will serve them well for years — and hold their value in a changing market.

How do you ensure your clients feel supported well beyond the closing table — and what does that level of care look like in practice?

I’ve always seen real estate as more than a transaction — it’s an investment in someone’s next chapter and often the beginning of a lasting relationship. Many of my clients become close friends, and I value that deeply.

In practice, it means sharing my extensive network of trusted contacts to help clients settle in with ease. If something arises or they’re ready to start a project, I’m their first call.
