With more than 20 years in Nashville’s real estate market, Grace Clayton has witnessed a dramatic evolution in how homes are bought and sold. Early in her career, listings relied heavily on print advertising and direct mail, with open houses promoted through newspapers and magazines. Today, the landscape has shifted almost entirely to digital platforms, where agents not only market properties but also build personal brands through social media and content creation.
What advice do you give clients looking for luxury homes, especially when it comes to finding exclusive or off-market properties?
My advice is simple: Work with an agent who truly knows the market — not just professionally, but personally. As a sixth-generation Nashvillian, I grew up in this community. I understand the stories behind the homes and the people who live in them.
How do you ensure your clients receive a level of service that goes far beyond the closing table?
I often joke that I’m not just a real estate agent. I’m also a therapist, school coordinator, restaurant guide and job connector. My role extends far beyond buying or selling a home.
I’m invested in helping my clients build a life in Nashville and achieve their vision for what that looks like.
What’s your favorite thing about living and working in Nashville?
Nashville is home — it always has been. I come from a large family, many of whom work in real estate. I attended Ensworth and Harpeth Hall, and aside from college and a year living in New York City after graduation, Nashville has always been my home.
I value the strong sense of community here — running into familiar faces at the grocery store, local restaurants and around town. I’m also passionate about giving back through nonprofit work. This city has given me so much, and I feel that support every day.
When you’re not helping clients with luxury homes, how do you like to spend your free time?
I have two young daughters, ages 5 and 7, so when I’m not working, you’ll likely find me at a school event or on the sidelines of one of their sports activities.
