Over 400 guests gathered at Smyrna’s LifePoint Church for an evening of music, fellowship and restoration to benefit S2L Recovery: a compassionate, accredited and Christ-centered program for drug and alcohol rehabilitation in Woodbury, TN.

Featuring Ben Fuller, Travis Ryan and One Common, the Friends of S2L Benefit Concert began an earnest call to the larger community, seeking to make space for more men to find freedom from addiction through Jesus. Many of the program’s alumni attended to show their support for S2L, and event proceeds — ticket and merchandise sales, silent auction bids, and other donations — will directly impact the recovery center’s upcoming project.

As S2L has grown since its founding in 2006, the ministry’s ability to help men break the chains of addiction has increased, but it’s also revealed growing pains. S2L has been consistently full, and need for treatment remains larger than the beds currently offered by the center. Because of this, S2L is looking to construct a new facility, nearly doubling the bed capacity from 32 to 58 total beds, providing an opportunity for more men to experience the transforming power of Christ.

This new facility will be built on S2L’s 10-acre campus in McMinnville TN. This is an intimidating project because — through all the growth, building and remodeling undertaken the last 4 years — S2L has not had to take on any debt. This is unfortunately not the case for this project, as — after early conversations with general contractors — the commercial construction costs will be in the range of $3 million.

I have a special place in my heart for S2L, as I came through the program after nearly a decade battling with addiction. I had tried every other avenue — rehabs, meetings, support groups — but there was always something missing. S2L Recovery showed me the radical, transforming power of a true relationship with Jesus Christ. Simply, S2L saved my life, and I am now blessed to serve alongside the men who showed me the way.

In a world plagued by addiction, my daily prayer is that men can find their way here, and my heart breaks when some must be turned away — “no room in the inn,” if you will.
