The click of heels echoed as Nashville’s finest flocked up the giant stone steps of the Parthenon for a special sneak peek of the limited-run SEE YOU ME pop-up exhibition, open February 24–26. In partnership with the Centennial Park Conservancy, collaborators Karen Elson and Emily Dorio showcased a stunning collection of large-format photographs, film and sculptures that were gracefully displayed within the beautiful walls of the Parthenon.
Ethereal and eye-catching photographs by Emily Dorio featured the ever so alluring supermodel Karen Elson. A variety of backdrops accentuated the beauty and mood including a milky white bath and even a giant snake! The big and bold artwork ended up being the perfect match for the colossal columns and larger-than-life Athena who towers over guests inside the Parthenon. One portrait in particular featured Karen Elson in a metallic-gold hooded fabric with her hands raised and eyes locked straight on the camera — we couldn’t help but notice the similarities between Karen’s pose and that of the gilded goddess dominating the room. Whether intentional or not, the divine feminine energy of the entire exhibition was both palpable and powerful.
Needless to say, the crowd that evening was dressed to the nines. Fabulous attendees of every age came out to celebrate this impressive collection of work. After delectable drinks and hors d’œuvres, guests enjoyed a conversation — moderated by Libby Callaway — with Karen Elson and Emily Dorio. Three truly inspirational women discussed the delicate balance of home life and successful artistic careers, and how creativity still finds its way to the forefront of their lives.
