On the Circuit: Relevé Society's Last Call

Presented by the Nashville Ballet’s Relevé Society, Last Call is the perfect way to close out the ballet’s season of performances. The afternoon began with a quick panel discussion with Nashville Ballet artistic director and CEO, Nick Mullikin and two of the choreographers for Five Short Stories — Aaron Buchanan and Imani Sailers. The trio discussed the inspiration behind each of the stories they choreographed and how music and movement were intertwined. The room was full of ballet enthusiasts and many had questions as the discussion continued.

Next, it was time for the show. The Live in Studio A production — Five Short Stories — were manifestations of written word pieces like with Imani Sailers The Red Shoes as well as personification of emotions like with Nick Mullikin’s Where We Were Supposed To Be. Each performance showed the Nashville Ballet’s vast range of talent within the company dancers.

After the performance, many guests made their way to the Noah Liff Opera Center for Last Call. Co-chairs Mary Katherine Bratton, Crystal Chen and Ashley Herring designed a beautiful spring close of season event. In the center of the room stood a grand floral arrangement of pink roses and burgundy accents. Guests enjoyed snacks from the bountiful cheese and charcuterie display. The event committee had clearly been working hard to procure an abundant amount of terrific silent auction items — each more popular than the last. The afternoon concluded as it ended — with a discussion led by Nick Mullikin and two of the principle performers. Each discussed their personal journey in dance and what the future might hold.
