On the Circuit: Harvest Hope Dinner

NAHT brought together friends and supporters at Natalie and Kurt Barton’s Five Stone Farm for an evening of fellowship and fundraising to help end human trafficking in Tennessee.

Guests enjoyed a beautiful al fresco reception as the sounds of bluegrass drifted through the evening air. Revelers sampled delicious hors d’oeuvres and browsed the silent auction, with many remarking on the picturesque setting and perfect weather. One notable item — an original painting by Nashville artist Harold Kraus — sparked a fierce bidding war as guests competed to take the work home.

The relaxed farm setting offered guests a chance to mingle while learning more about NAHT and the work their support makes possible. The evening balanced the warmth of a fall gathering with the seriousness of the organization’s mission, setting the stage for a program focused on the women and children NAHT serves.

After the reception, guests made their way into the barn for a hearty farm dinner of short ribs or chicken, served with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. Founder and executive director Mary Trapnell took the stage to thank those in the room for their continued support and commitment to the organization.

Mary then led a conversation with Natalie Barton, Amber Eells, Molly Hogan, Christina Meadows and LeAnn Walters. Their stories and messages offered a look at the realities of human trafficking and addiction and the importance of providing survivors with resources, stability and a path forward. The conversation brought NAHT’s mission home for many in the room and underscored the impact supporters can make through the organization.

Next, country musician and songwriter Steve Moakler took the stage for an intimate performance. He charmed the room with his songwriter-meets-twang sensibility, sharing stories between songs and even performing an original song for the crowd.

By the end of the evening, guests had done far more than gather around the table. The Harvest of Hope Farm Dinner raised more than $1.2 million to support NAHT’s mission to rescue, restore and resource women and children from the bondage of human trafficking and addiction.
