The Legacy Ball Patrons Party Paves the Way for Future Generations

Friends and supporters of the R.H. Boyd Family Endowment Fund gathered at Stephaine and Joseph Walker’s beautiful home for the Legacy Ball Patrons Party, raising a glass — and funds — to support the R.H. Boyd company’s philanthropic work. Guests enjoyed cocktails and conversation on a covered stone terrace before diving into a delicious buffet supper from Inherited Flavor catering. (The jerk chicken skewers and lobster mac-and-cheese bites were particular highlights.)

The organization works to strengthen the local community by funding opportunities for educational and career advancement and celebrating cultural heritage. “The Legacy Ball and R.H. Boyd are deeply aligned in that we focus on empowerment and education and making sure we’re providing resources for the betterment of their communities,” said LaDonna Boyd, the first female president in the company’s 130-year history. “We like to support and shift the trajectory of future generations by pouring into them — developing leaders, educators, community engagement and so much more.”

LaDonna thanked guests, highlighted the important work of the event’s committees and announced the Legacy Ball’s honorees: the Urban League of Middle Tennessee, the Nashville Public Library Civil Rights Room, the YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee, and author Alice Randall.

Howard Gentry, funding committee co-chair, highlighted the ripple effect of the organization’s work. “It’s because of you, and it’s because of the Boyd family, that we’re able to not just improve the lives of the people that receive the funds — but improve the lives of those who are served by the people that receive funds,” he said. “On behalf of the foundation, thank you.”
