To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day throughout the week, French restaurant Miel is bringing traditional Irish items to the menu from March 17 to March 19.

Before chef Jason Lalacona settled in Nashville, he studied at the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. His experience working in Irish pubs helped him master classic cuisine methods. The menu he now brings to Miel focuses on historical flavors and highlights Irish comfort food.

Irish sausage rolls start the menu, served in large bite-sized pieces with a flaky, fried outer layer surrounding tender pork. The bacon and cabbage dish contrasts with American methods for preparing meat. Chefs boil bacon with carrots and potatoes — creating a hearty, chewy texture — and top it with parsley cream sauce.

Pulling from more British influence, chef Jason’s bangers and mash dresses golden-cooked sausages in mashed potatoes and béchamel gravy. The fish and chips are also sure to satisfy with a fried slab of cod or haddock, aided by lemon, Kennebec potato fries and malt vinegar tartar sauce.

Shepherd’s pie proves to be the most intricate of the menu items, blending lamb and vegetable filling and mashed potato topping with burnt ends. These layers bring the best of all flavors in one bite.

Guests can pick up these limited-edition items during Miel’s standard operating hours: 4:30 to 10 p.m., starting Tuesday through Thursday.
