The Daniel Cole Collection is a skin care and makeup brand that owner Val Cole co-founded with her late mother, Joyce Daniel Hill. In 1998, these two celebrity makeup artists, with years of experience in television, award shows, music videos, and countless photo shoots and large-scale weddings, decided it was time for a change, and the Daniel Cole Collection was born.
With the help of a chemist, the ladies took the makeup they loved and tweaked it to create something better. With added pigments, products last longer — on the skin and in the jar — which ultimately gives clients quality makeup at reasonable prices. From her cozy Bandywood location, Val offers everything from their concealers and foundations to cheek, lip and eye colors to sponges and brushes. She also teaches makeup application, does special-occasion makeup and has a booming bride business.
“I love lips! I love lipstick!” proclaims Val, who is the only person in Tennessee making lipsticks in house. As a calligrapher who mixes her own inks, she made an easy transition to custom blending lipsticks. Now this self-proclaimed fanatic has launched two lines as divisions of her cosmetics company. Music City Lips, packaged in four sets of three colors each — shimmery glosses or liquid lips for long-lasting color — have locally inspired names like Rhymin' Red (the perfect red), Star Quality (deep natural rose) and Southern Accent (a soft gloss). For her brides, she created Love Struck Lips in two combinations of long-lasting mattes and glosses to last throughout the day.
Currently, all Daniel Cole Collection cosmetics may be purchased online or at the Bandywood shop, and Music City Lips is available at White's Mercantile and other select retailers. danielcole.com
