Reclaiming Lives Luncheon Raises Awareness About Mental Health

Centerstone’s eighth annual Reclaiming Lives Luncheon, held recently at Four Seasons Nashville, was a capital success. The ballroom was filled to capacity for what proved to be an intimate and inspiring gathering of community leaders and supporters. Co-founders of the Reclaiming Lives Luncheon — as well as current and immediate past regional board chairs, respectively — Dana Oman and Kelly Crockett welcomed 430 guests to the luncheon, and this year’s co-chairs Rob Stevens and Cynthia Arnholt encouraged everyone to enjoy the food and fellowship while also considering liberally donating to Centerstone’s Foundation, a very worthy cause. Centerstone’s noble purpose is to provide life-changing mental health care to people across the globe, and proceeds from this event go directly to patient care.

After lunch, Centerstone’s Regional CEO Ben Middleton introduced the keynote speaker: Dr. Henry Cloud, a clinical psychologist and New York Times best-selling author of 45 books, including the iconic Boundaries, all of which have sold over 20 million copies worldwide. Dana and Kelly, both ardent fans of Dr. Cloud’s work, have wanted to secure the acclaimed leadership expert for their keynote since the inception of the luncheon in 2015. As fate would have it, Cynthia had a connection with Dr. Cloud, and she made their dreams come true. “[We] wanted an event that educates the public about mental health, and the genuine need and response has been amazing. We get calls after every luncheon from people looking to find help for themselves or loved ones,” said Dana. “We want to de-stigmatize mental health concerns,” Kelly added. “We are passionate about making sure all people in our region have access to the care they need for healing and for hope.” Dana and Kelly’s insight eight years ago has sharply come to fruition in our community: Centerstone’s phones are most definitely ringing, and — through the efforts of their staff and Reclaiming Lives Luncheon donors — the calls never go unanswered.
