Enjoy the Warmer Temperatures With These Fun Outdoor Activities

Warmer temperatures are (hopefully) here to stay, which means a slew of outdoor activities are taking place across the city. If you're looking for a safe way to get out of the house and enjoy the spring weather, check out one of these events from local nonprofits.

Cheekwood in Bloom

Through April 11

Last year, due to Safer at Home measures, the city missed out on Cheekwood’s spectacular spring display. Fortunately, you can safely enjoy the beauty of the season this year at Cheekwood in Bloom, featuring an astonishing 150,000 tulips in the Color Garden, in addition to hyacinths, violas, magnolias, dogwoods and the Basham Daffodil Field. The six-week celebration includes a number of special events and programming, like Storytime in the Children’s Garden, the Great Spring Art Hunt and Dogs and Dogwoods. For more details, please visit cheekwood.org/calendar/cheekwood-in-bloom.

Andrew Jackson's Birthday at The Hermitage

Monday, March 15

For the former president’s 254th birthday, activities include a one-day return of The Duel, a lively historical reenactment, and a marker dedication by The Lafayette Trail commemorating Marquis de Lafayette's visit to The Hermitage during his farewell tour of the United States. Visitors can safely explore the 1,120-acre property, including its historic garden, field quarters, historical markers, hiking trail and more. Grounds pass and General's Tour tickets, offered at half-price for the day, can be purchased at thehermitage.com.

Eggstravaganzoo

Saturday, April 3

With the weather warming up, the Nashville Zoo is extending their operating hours. Beginning on March 12, the park will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. They’re also bringing back a favorite Easter tradition, Eggstravaganzoo, on Saturday, April 3. The outdoor event will implement new protocols to keep little ones safe while they hunt for Easter eggs. The hunt schedule is timed by age, and the event will include Zookeeper Talks on a variety of animals throughout the day. For the full schedule and more information, visit nashvillezoo.org/upcoming-events/eggzoo.
