Vera Wang now at b. Hughes

If you haven’t visited b. Hughes lately, drop in. Owner Karen Kaforey of Signature Events, has redesigned and expanded the shop, now equipped to coordinate every aspect of the wedding, not just for bride and bridesmaids, but also for the gentlemen, since adding an in-house tuxedo rental service.

The second level contains an aerie of bridesmaids’ dresses and formal wear, a consultation area and a “trial run” space for brides that, she says, is “just for them to relax with their friends.” Groups can bring in hair and makeup people and wear the dresses, making an afternoon of experimenting with a complete look for the wedding party in advance, without additional charges.  This, says Karen, is a great stress-reducing experience for brides-to-be.

The shop houses Nashville’s (and Tennessee’s) exclusive retailer of couture gowns by Vera Wang, Romona Keveza and the nascent, but notable, Justina McCaffrey.  They also carry lines of jewelry and hairpieces, like Erin Cole.  This year, Karen adds Vera Wang’s signature silver and gift collection, available only by invitation from the company to hand-selected retailers.  This collection includes bridesmaids’ gifts, silver items, stationery and Vera Wang’s perfume.
