Summer slim-down tricks
Published On: May 26, 2010
We confess. If there’s an easy way to look slimmer, leaner, tighter or firmer out there, we’ll jump on it. After some “heavy” research, we learned a few new tricks that will help all of us either be or appear smaller than we currently are. It’s high time. After all, if doctors can remove a kidney through the navel, surely they can melt a little fat without cutting, right?
This is awesome. Glow Skincare’s Melissa Thal, a registered nurse and avid seeker of the best new treatments for looking good, has hit the mother load with LipoEx. The procedure, which basically feels like a hot stone massage on whatever area is being treated, involves rolling a laser that emits high-frequency radio waves over your lymph nodes and then your wobbly bits—whichever parts you most want to shrink. This body shaping experience can shrink love handles, the abdomen, bra bulges, hips, thighs, groin pads, knee pads, arms, double chin, jowls and eye pads. It tightens and firms your skin (say bye-bye to cellulite!), reduces stretch mark and literally melts fat. Well, that’s how we describe it. The radio waves cause fat cells to move rapidly until they become porous. The fat seeps from the cell, shrinking it—causing you to look lean and lovely. One caveat: you’re supposed to abstain from drinking alcohol the day before, the day of and the day after each treatment (eight treatments is the standard), and you need to exercise for 30 minutes to get blood flowing and allow the fat to drain. Sign up now before you have to squeeze into that Swan Ball dress!
Scrub your ugly parts away! Just rub on a bit of Bliss FatGirlSlim and watch those bad dimples (the ones on your tummy, legs and tuckus) disappear.
QuSome-encapsulated caffeine molecules help break down the appearance of cellulite. At night, let BlissFatGirlSlim lull you to sleep as it works your tail off (literally). An added bonus: the lavendar-scented lotion will help put you to sleep, as if you had just finished a strenuous workout. Upon waking, use Bliss FatGirlScrub to help up your circulation and lessen lumpiness.
Pssst: Stephanie Maxwell recommends adding Soledia short to the mix to improve the overall tone and texture of the legs. The patented wave knit of the shorts boosts circulation, wards off bacteria with its silver-ion-fused microfibers, along with a several other figure-enhancing bonuses.
The Europeans have got it going on when it comes to body treatments and staying slim, and thankfully, Nuhad Khoury found this luxe treatment to pamper clients and make them look and feel better. The weight-reducing treatment uses the oil of the Frangipani plant whipped into paraffin that is then applied to the body as a cocoon. The thermal treatment draws toxins and liquids from the body, increases metabolism, softens skin and decreases appetite. Nothing wrong with that!
Just ask Mary Kathryn Yeiser of Therapy Systems/Private Edition what her go-to treatment for looking and feeling better is and she’ll tell you, “The spray tan at Private Edition.” It’s an instant lift and the professional sprayers there can even do a little “sculpting” on you, too. The reservation book fills quickly so call now. Let’s just say they were booked for the week of Steeplechase about a month out.
Can’t shrink your body? Well, you can get your hair tamed and trim with the Keratin Complex Treatment. According to the folks at Platinum Hair Salon, here’s how the treatment works:
“This revolutionary smoothing system infuses Keratin deep into the hair cuticle, eliminating up to ninety-five percent of frizz and curl and leaving the hair smooth, shiny and luxurious. Results typically last 3 to 5 months depending on hair type. Our client testimonials refer to Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy as ‘life changing.’ It rejuvenates and revitalizes the hair, giving it a softer, silkier feel that everyone raves about.”
Another bonus: This process will cut your hair drying time in half, leaving you more time to exercise. Plus, admit it. One of the reasons you didn’t want to work up a sweat was because it takes too long to dry your hair, right?
Now, we know this may be a stretch for some of you, but consider this: If you waltzed into the Swan Ball with a glittery tattoo of a giant swan on your arm, do you really think anyone would notice if your dress happened to be a bit snug? Exactly!
Corrorbee’s, the new spa on Music Row, offers this fun treat. So even if you don’t hit the Swan Ball with one, it just may be the perfect girls night out for your daughter or all the pretty young things out there.
