Symphony Spring Fashion Show brings out new styles, strappy stilettos and fashionistas

Adoring Isaac

Published On: May 27, 2010

Never before have we seen so many women in such a celebrity-induced frenzy. Seriously. Who was in town? Tom Jones? Bono? Even better. It was Isaac. Isaac of the Mizrahi clan. What’s not to love about this man? He’s charming, hysterical, gifted, witty, intelligent and, yes—fashionable.

Oh-so fashionable. That was the consensus amongst the ladies at the Symphony Spring Fashion Show where co-chairs Pamela Kurio-Poe and Troy Solarek, along with the fabulous Janice Elliott of Gus Mayer, scored a coup in landing Isaac the Great. Stiletto-sporting socialites steadily poured into the Schermerhorn, happily sipping white wine (so happily sipping it that it was gone the first hour of the reception).

A note to the men of Nashville: Why do so few of you attend this event? You are missing out. Beautiful women, no male competition—you should all get your plans together and put this one on your calendar for next year! Among the lovelies circling about the terrace was Deborah Roberts, ABC correspondent and wife of Al Roker, who dazzled in a stunning sunshine yellow gown.

“I love you the way a mother loves a child,” Isaac purred to the sold-out crowd from the stage before the models hit the catwalk. “In fact, anyone who wears my clothes, I love you unconditionally.” After seeing his fall collection, it’s obvious Isaac is going to be loving a lot of Nashville women. There was something for everyone (even big, furry hoods for the ladies who get really cold), and word on the street is that folks were doing some serious shopping the next day at Gus Mayer’s trunk show.

After the fashion show, guests were treated to the beautiful harmonies of Little Big Town who performed three songs. (Their second song “Stay” is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful songs ever, and why their label never released it as a single is beyond us.) Then, guests trickled into the tent outside on the terrace where dinner was served. Our only complaint about the evening—it seems awfully late to eat dinner past 9 p.m. on a Tuesday night. Maybe we’re showing our age or following that rule about not eating after 6 p.m., but it just seems like it’s time to wash your face and hit the hay. Besides, it is challenging to dig into your meal after you’ve witnessed a bevy of size-zero models sashay down a runway in clothes that wouldn’t fit over your elbow.

Back to Isaac. Confident and cool with his pink-polished toes and his flip-flops, he epitomized accessible, discussing at length the fact that he actually has designed canine attire. “Dean loves my clothes, but Harry will have nothing to do with them—he just rips them off (Dean being his boyfriend’s Beagle-Jack Russell mix; Harry being his Lab-Retriever pooch),” said Isaac. The man behind the seams also shared with us his television show will be coming back this summer to Bravo. Bravo, Bravo! A wise choice.

Since we couldn’t convince him to stay in Nashville, at least we can wear his clothes and watch him on TV. Thank goodness for technology. EN
