Tippins Stone of Nashville and Leggett Kitchin of Virginia Beach met while students at Washington and Lee University and married in July at Christ Church Cathedral with Reverend Gene Manning officiating.

Escorted by her father, John William Stone III, the bride wore a silk shantung gown designed by Maria Elena Bishop of Romantic Creations. Maids of honor were her sisters, Mary Katherine Stone and Elizabeth Cornelius Stone. Bridesmaids were Maria Kitchin Moore, sister of the groom, Christina Susan Leaton, Maggie Puryear Lovett, Katherine Green Meyer, Kelly Jane Price and Lindsey Finch Williams.

William Old Kitchin was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were William Preston Moore, brother-in-law of the groom, Joshua Randolph Bryan, George Wiman Carter, Jr., Edward Samuel Carver III, Andrew Allen Flanigan, Michael Ashby Via, Jr., Theodore Jennings Williams and Walker Jones Williams. The ushers were Timothy Traugott Brown, Jr. and William Gordon Harrison IV. Douglas Brooks Corzine served as crucifer, and Margaret Becker Swann and Sarah Elizabeth Swann, cousins of the bride, greeted guests.

A reception followed at Belle Meade Country Club. The bride’s cousin, John Hiatt, sang “Have a Little Faith In Me” for the couple’s first dance, and Familiar Faces provided the music for dancing.

As the evening drew to a close, Tippins and Leggett left the reception in a vintage Packard owned and driven by Martin and Ann Marie McNamara. The couple honeymooned in Barcelona and southern France before making their home in Roanoke, Virginia where he is with Norfolk Southern Railway and she is teaching. Tippins is a graduate of Harpeth Hall, and Leggett is a graduate of Norfolk Academy and the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
