Wesley Hughes and Marshall Gallagher knew each other during high school and college, but became friends through a weekly bowling group when they returned to Nashville after graduation. Their real romance began at the UT/Auburn game in Knoxville in the fall of 2009.

They married in December at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Mark DeVries and Pastor Jim Thomas officiating. The Sam Levine jazz ensemble provided whimsical renditions of Christmas hymns as prelude to the ceremony. Sprays of magnolia leaves and red berries decorated the sanctuary.

Wesley wore an ivory lace design by Romona Keveza with a cathedral train and red velvet pumps. She carried a bouquet of red Charlotte roses with eucalyptus berries and camellia foliage. Her bridesmaids wore short black taffeta dresses and carried white roses or tulips.

For the reception at Belle Meade Country Club, the bride wanted a winter wonderland and Dori Thornton of the Social Office along with Visual Elements and Ilex for Flowers created that look under a tent on the patio. Crystal cylinders filled with white orchid sprays hung from the frosted and flocked branches suspended from the tent ceiling. Mirrored consoles with arrangements of white tulips, frosted greens, freesia and winter berries stood beside white sofas and chairs to create a clubby winter ambiance

Guests entered to piano music played by the bride’s aunt, Mary Lawrence Flinn, and Scat Springs provided all the fun on the dance floor. Billie Mochow created the wedding cake, and Leland Riggan designed the groom’s caramel cake.

At the end of the evening, guests gave the couple a fitting send-off with jingle bells and rose petals before a horse-drawn carriage whisked them away for a chilly, moonlit ride to a car awaiting them a few blocks away. They spent two nights at Overton Retreat on the Cumberland Plateau, before returning to their home in East Nashville. They will take a longer wedding trip to Zoetry in the Dominican Republic in January.

Wesley is a graduate of The University of Virginia and works for Sony/ATV Music Publishing. Marshall is a graduate of Auburn University and works for Regions Bank.
