Creativity rules in the Carriage House

Let’s do lunch

“It’s not your mother’s Belle Meade Plantation,” Steve Sirls stated matter-of-factly as he looked at his crew’s Entirely Entertaining Studio 54-themed table, complete with a spinning disco globe chandelier and favorite tunes from the ’70s. Steve was dead on. Or, we should probably say, Andy Warhol was dead on, since that was his “costume.” And pals Jason Bradshaw (sporting superfly disco boots along with snug raspberry-hued velveteen pants), Bob Deal (looking fetching himself), Theresa Menefee (darling in a little sequined number), Michelle Frost (her dress as sparkly as her bright blue eyes) helped round out the table.

We love this event. Aside from the creative tablescapes, we just adore seeing men and women driving up to Belle Meade Plantation in all these funky looks. Take Carol Daniels in her racy little fishnet stockings. She was dressed for her table—Home for the Holidays—and let’s just say she was giving Mrs. Claus a serious run for her money.

Nuhad Khoury joined Carol at her table and generously donated the hot item for the live auction from her spa, Tiba Nu. The Frangipani Parrafin Body Sculpt, a European body treatment that uses oil and paraffin as a cocoon to reduce body weight, sounds like what we need for swimsuit season. And, it would negate the effects of Kristen Winston’s delicious lunch that started with white peach bellinis and ended with a strawberry mascarpone mousse in a chocolate cup with fresh strawberry coulis.

Avid Belle Meade Plantation supporters Deborah Lovett (our champagne connection) and Deby Pitts (who looked dynamite in her vivid sapphire dress) both hosted interesting tables, the Birds and the Bees by Deborah and Ana’s Table by Deby. Now, Deborah’s creation wasn’t about a fifth-grade Life class but rather more of a Herend statement while Deby was highlighting her new venture, Ana’s Table—a catering service that offers a “taste of Veracruz.”

To be honest, there wasn’t one table we wouldn’t have enjoyed joining, nor was there one table host who didn’t provide an entirely entertaining afternoon. Chin chin! EN
