Out, out damn spot!

Leave it to Therapy Systems to figure out the simplest way to cover those little blemishes, freckles and circles that plague all of us. Better Than Cover is a clever chapstick-like tube containing some of the silkiest, smoothest erase paste we’ve used in a while. Not heavy, not cakey—it’s sinfully delicious! Just a small dab covers and conceals throughout the day.

And they didn’t stop there. The company is launching a new line of hair care products named after the salon located in The Cosmetic Market—The Back Bar. Their first product? Shampoo, naturally.

Clarifying Treatment Shampoo promises to exfoliate the scalp with a mild form of glycolic acid produced by DuPont called GlyPure which also removes impurities and build-up from hair follicles. And it won’t strip color. The Back Bar recommends using the shampoo no more than three times a week (hey, we’ve been trying to conserve water—not a problem!). Clarifying Treatment Shampoo promises to strengthen, moisturize and protect—kind of like the police force of hair care. But more importantly, how does it smell? According to our office poll, “delightful, clean, grassy, fresh, handsome.” Bring it on! Go to therapysystems.com for more information. EN

We woof Willow

Bambi Watt and her crew at Willow sure know how to launch a new product. Example: Willow’s Xtend Workout Launch. Xtend is one of the premiere ballet barre workouts in the world, combining dance and Pilates to chisel and hone your body. Willow offered free classes to anyone who made a donation to the Nashville Humane Association. Now that’s top dog in our books. And, the intense hour will help you win Best in Show.

This workout challenges bodies of all ages and genders and can be modified for advanced students looking for a challenge. So if you want to look long and lean this summer, give Willow a call. You’ll be sure to have folks howling at you when you stroll by with your slinky self! Check out willow-studio.com for class schedules. EN

Welcome Aussies!

We love Australians. In our experience, they’re all beautiful and friendly. Think Keith and Nicole.

So we couldn’t be more excited when we heard about the new Australian-themed spa Corroboree that just opened on Music Row. Lindsay Truman, who hails from Brisbane in Queensland, Australia, partnered with New York-based spa goddess Carla Ciuffo. Carla ran a beloved spa in the city called StoneSpa which was a haven for celebrities such as Susan Sarandon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Christy Turlington, Michael Kors, India Arie, Iman and Donna Karan. Now, we’ve got her. Yay!

This unique treasure trove of pleasure offers spa standards and then some—we mean big time. Corroboree features a spa culinary center for intimate spa cuisine classes, spa event planning and lush treatments like their Sodashi Pure Radiance Facial (no chemicals are used—just pure ingredients from Western Austrlia). And they’ve even managed to make waxing sound like fun by calling it Bushwacking. And let’s not forget Henna body art.

We foresee lots of Music Row Album Launch and No.1 parties taking advantage of this creative new spot. After all, who doesn’t need a “floating massage therapist” to relax your neck while you sip wine and chill with friends. Corroboree may be an aboriginal word, meaning gathering or meeting, but we’re going to say it means scrumpdillyicious. Visit corrobeespa.com for all the scoop. EN

Ooh baby, baby

There’s a hip new baby store in town without pastels or lace collars anywhere in sight. What you will find inside this cute shop, designed to appeal to a child’s imagination, is brightly colored clothing and irresistible accessories. Even the store name is all lower case because itty-bitty letters seemed better suited for babies. The attention to detail is apparent the minute you walk through the door.

The store is stocked with gifts and clothing for newborns and toddlers. Artsy stationary, journals and home goods mingle with funky mix-and-match baby clothing, accessories and toys. Some of the charming clothes are even designed to grow with your child. A dress becomes a top and pants become shorts—on purpose.

Maggie Tweedie Jetter, a Nashville transplant, is the visionary and owner. With a studio art degree and retail background, Maggie has designed an artistic, cozy and welcoming environment. (She and her sister built the quirky bookcases and 15 ft. pulley-system display in the center of the store by themselves.) Maggie prides herself on stylish and affordable quality products, old-fashioned customer service and a kid-friendly atmosphere. She’s thought of everything to ensure that you and your kids will want to come back time and time again.

Stop by tweed at Edgehill Village and enjoy a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Even if you don’t have a baby of your own, you’ll come up with some sweet little thing to spoil. Just because. CCR

Ch-ch-ch-Chihuly

A lot of brouhaha surrounds the upcoming exhibition of Dale Chihuly’s mind-blowing glass sculptures at Cheekwood. We definitely understand why. Swan Ball attendees have the first chance to see pieces like Saffron Tower, a three-story glass tower and Mille Fiori, a vast garden of floating glass, which will be on display for your absolute viewing pleasure.

The rest of the public can check it on starting May 25 (and you have until October 31, 2010). In addition to Cheekwood, Chihuly’s works will be at the Frist starting May 9 and running until early 2011.

For those seeking a true synesthetic experience, head to TPAC’s Jackson Hall (the show was moved from the Schermerhorn due to flood damage) from May 20 to May 22. The Nashville Symphony will perform a concert-version of Bela Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle with six sculptures onstage.

At the Frist, artist Ryan Gothrup will demonstrate the unique method of glassblowing. Ryan will be there June 7-8 and at Cheekwood from June 12-13. You don’t have an excuse to miss out on the citywide celebration of Dale Chihuly and his overwhelmingly gorgeous work. MM
