Big days
Published On: April 13, 2009
People love to compare and contrast weddings. Their own, sure, but also the ones they were in or helped plan, the wedding of their son or daughter, the second (or third) marriage of a sister, a parent, themselves. Like children’s art, each one is very personal. Subjects interviewed for our wedding day stories had only a few rolled-eye moments; most of their tales were about how beautiful, how extraordinary the days became for the key players and those privileged to watch.
This is our sixth January weddings issue, one that grows each year. We love using actual brides in the bloom of youth, bursting with love and joy over the big day. The stories are full of resources—wonderful florists, creative photographers, life-saving event and wedding planners, unusual venues and, especially, ways to personalize your wedding and rehearsal dinner. I won’t kid you. This issue was of particular interest to me because our family will have a wedding in October. The groom is happier than I’ve ever seen him as they begin to plan not just a weekend emblematic of their love and heritage, but a wonderful life together.
On another note, let me urge you to go online and vote for your favorite parties and the best things about them. All 2005 events are in the running, and this has been a banner year in a lot of ways. While you’re there, join the NCrowd, an online community that lets you in on Nfocus happenings throughout the year. We have a ton of fun, and no one is excluded.
Finishing this issue, you may feel a little like Popeye channeling Keats: Beauty is yout’, yout’ beauty. That is all ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.
At least, when you’re looking at these beautiful brides.
