A star, a star

Daystar brings comfort and light to those in need

Nashville Nfocus - Volume 21 Number 1

Daystar Ministries Evening in December, held at Chaffin’s Barn, was the perfect event for jump-starting the holiday season. The cozy venue was dressed head-to-toe in all things Christmas. The crowd of 300 was greeted by carolers and hot cider as they arrived on this chilly, rainy evening. Inside, the revelers found their seats at white-clothed tables with red polka-dotted napkins, cedar greenery and a red stocking for each Santa to contribute to this well-deserved counseling ministry.

More than grand

NCT’s Grand Day offers happiness

Nashville Nfocus - Volume 21 Number 1

Most folks know the expression, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” With that in mind, we were hesitant to write anything about this year’s Grand Day, the annual fundraiser for the Nashville Children’s Theatre, seeing that these few words will take the place of photos that speak volumes.

Beauty and brains

Tradition rules at the Kappa Alpha Theta’s Bal d’Hiver

Nashville Nfocus - Volume 21 Number 1

As 62 of Nashville’s finest young ladies were presented at The Bal d’Hiver, Nashville’s oldest debutante ball, the whisperings of “Ooh,” “Aah” and “Isn’t she adorable?” became something of a chorus-like refrain for the evening.

The gift

Symphony Ball never fails to deliver and delight

Nashville Nfocus - Volume 21 Number 1

There are certain things you expect to see and hear at Nashville’s Symphony Ball, the city’s premiere winter fundraiser. There will always be incredible music—from both the Harmony Award winner and the band—Craig Duncan and crew being the go-to band as of late. There will always be stunning women in beautiful jewel-hued gowns, ready to celebrate the holiday season. The food will be unique and delicious, thanks to Executive Chef Roger Keenan. The décor will impress—although the Schermerhorn Symphony Center doesn’t need to sparkle, the master event planners always manage to make the place even more appealing with flowers, lighting and draping. Lady and gentleman guests will save their holiday shopping for the night as the jewelry, this year’s designed by Zonnie Sheik, is unfailingly too tempting to resist. And, guests are always happy to know that their tariff for attending the evening will go directly towards the Symphony to ensure and promote our city’s world-class orchestra.

Cin, cin!

Italy comes to life at Symphony Ball Patrons Party

Nashville Nfocus - Volume 21 Number 1

Vivacious Vicki Horne, co-chair of this year’s Symphony Ball with the lively Laurie Eskind, certainly let the proverbial cat out of the bag when she posted on her FB page about the incredible decor of the forthcoming Symphony Ball Patron’s Party, held at home of Keith and Deby Pitts. Deby, along with Patrons Party chairs Erin Simpkins, Marjorie Feltus Hawkins and Jonathan Savage, created such an incomparable Una Festa Italiana that guests were rushing down the staircase of the sumptuous Pitts home to get a good look. New interior designer in town, although he’s a Tennessee native, Jonathan brought his New York experience and flair to produce one of the most posh parties ever.
