One thing you learn when traveling frequently is to pack items you're really going to need for the trip. Something that I didn't anticipate when coming to California was the need to pack my own food. Surely Cali will have tons of healthy snacks at their airport. That's what I thought this morning when preparing to leave the hotel, anyway. After checking my many bags, getting through the hassle of security, and finding a seat wedged between two people also waiting to fly south, I had really worked up an appetite! Unfortunately, the San Diego airport doesn't even compare to Nashville's, and the only option was a muffin from Starbucks.
Needless to say, I'll be packing plenty of protein bars for my next trip. Even though the west coast claims to be organic, all natural and healthy, the only organic thing I came across during my stay was the all natural sugar in the sweets every bakery in the city seemed to be selling in abundance. Perhaps all the health enthusiasts are in North California? I'm sure I'll find out soon enough.
