A Room with a View...but Little Else

Posted by Mandi Coleman (03.03.08, 9:57 PM)

Sunday I went house, or I should say condo, hunting. I found some really great spaces. Some of them were holes, some of them seemed like warehouses. I noticed a trend with them all, though. There wasn't any closet space. I don't consider myself to have a TON of stuff, but when it comes to closet space, I really need at least 1 walk-in!

My favorite by far was located right off West End. The view was gorgeous, and the amenities in the complex were so nice I would probably never even use half of them. Hardwoods, granite, huge garden tub...it was adding up to be the one. Until someone pointed out that my clothes hamper wouldn't fit into the bedroom closet, and if that's the case then my hanging items didn't stand a chance!

In every case, if you get one thing, you have to take away somewhere else. If I want the space, I'm going to have to sacrifice the pretty little add-ons that I hold so dear. Can I give up a tub for a closet? I'm actually not sure about that; I love my bubble baths! Maybe I could store my shoes in the tub when it wasn't in use. Could be an option, at least for the short-term!

I have to agree that when looking for a place to hang your hat you actually need a place to hang your hat...These places are really beautiful but I think the lack of storage could drive someone to have to take medication. I just don't consider myself a minimalist when it comes to hanging up my clothes and I definately feel the need to hide my dirty laundry from my guests.

The older apartments, duplexes and condos (think 70's and 80's) in this town seem to have the most space. But *don't* blow money on rent. Rent cheap, save your money and buy your dream home ASAP.

i don't know, i think if youre going to pay that much to rent in the city, you might as well have a nice little place

Nashville is more than a little town, but its much cheaper than larger cities! renting here is a breeze compared to that
