Lime left a Sour Taste in my Mouth

Lime, the new restaurant on Broadway, looks really fun from the street. Huge, white light fixtures hang from the ceiling and looked to me like spun sugar. What's not to love about that!? We got there a little bit early (around 6pm), so it didn't come as much surprise that they let us have our pick of booths in the entire place. After ordering a really fresh Raspberry Martini, I opened the menu, completely starved When the initial price shock died down, I noticed that the descriptions of the items sounded great.
We started off with the trio of dips and chips. Each dip came out served in very small bowls, but tasted great either way. We all decided to just split many of the other appetizers after practically licking the teeny bowls clean. To preface all this, I need to make it clear that when I think of appetizers, I think of food to share with others before your own meal arrives. So ordering 3 more appetizers after the initial dessert should have been plenty for a small table of girls, right? What arrived was comical. As in, could have made a cartoon punch-line, complete with drum solo.
First to arrive were the Shrimp Skewers, or that's what I thought they were. Unfortunately they turned out to be the MINI corncakes we had selected. There were 3 on the plate, and were the size of quarters. Splitting these in half gave us each approximately half a bit of deliciousness. Next, the real shrimp was placed in front of us, and while there were only 3 of these as well, they were normal size and actually very tasty. Lastly came out the Empanada. There was 1 on the plate, the size of a small crispy taco at Taco Bell. Only this thing looked like it had been deep-fried about three times in a row. I'll give it credit by saying the goat cheese and smoked chicken inside it were great. I just couldn't get over the crustiness that covered it.
I didn't stay for dessert, but I did see one pass by and it looked like a normal size dish; not gigantic, but not a crumb, either. I will give the place another shot and stick with Entrees and Desserts. I think the sugar-spun light fixtures deserve a second chance!
