Pardon me for the shameless institutional promotion, but we’ve got a totally fun event, Cocktails and Couture, coming up Saturday night, August 7 at the Frist Center.
The Golden Age of Couture exhibition has been such fun this summer! Hundreds upon hundreds of people are flocking into the galleries every day: women who grew up in the 40s and 50s; women who sewed from Vogue patterns; mothers and daughters; girlfriend weekenders; designers from around the region; aspiring designers and models. It’s been amazing. People are coming from all over the country.
The Member preview for the show was one spectacular sartorial evening, with vintage suits and dresses in full-tilt, swanabout. (Even Country Weekly was there!) Our visitors have been asking for another occasion to dress up to come see The Golden Age of Couture.
We heard you!
Cocktails and Couture is a ticketed event that includes an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, admission to the galleries to see the exhibition, great music by crooner and multi-instrumentalist Ben Graves & Friends, and a fabulous silent auction that includes a private fitting and evening with Billy and Jeanne Reid for the winner and 20 friends at his Hill Center shop. In addition, the most-wonderful Jason Facio (formerly of the Frist Center and now a principal at Elan Hair and Elan Skin) has donated the latest in skin rejuvenation treatments, a Dermal Optical Thermolysis (DOT) session. (Not that anyone needs it.) Elan Hair and Elan Skin are also graciously sponsoring the evening and providing gift bags for every guest.
Chanel at Dillards in Green Hills is offering for bid a “Girls' Night Out” in the winner’s home to do makeovers and to look at the newest fall makeup trends, and an incredibly sleek, elegant Carl Mertens Studio-designed bar case. Everything you need for that alfresco working social occasion. The hard case includes relevant bar toys (tongs, shaker, bottle opener and corkscrew) and also has compartments for business cards, cell phone and such. Includes everything but the cool, refreshing adult beverages.
Southwest Airlines, the best friend a city can have, has donated two round-trip tickets to any destination served by Southwest.
To recap: The auction offers a wardrobe update, little skin perk up, new makeup and airline tickets. It seems to me if you post the winning bid on all of these items, you’re set for your last summer fling. Of course, all proceeds benefit the Frist Center.
Tickets are $125 for non members and $90 for Frist Center Members. (Now there’s a good reason to join!)
