Amy Lee Bell began writing in her teens, winning essay awards in high school and publishing short fiction and poetry. She went on to study psychology at Rutgers and social work at Columbia University. Not having the emotional grit to make it as a social worker in the Big City, Amy found her way into advertising, copy writing, event planning and television production, all the while writing for national and NYC publications like Karma, Shecky’s Bar, Club and Lounge Guide and TimeOut New York. She joined Nfocus as Associate Editor after writing columns for The Nashville Scene, and is currently pursuing a Masters in English at Belmont University.
Tom Black is recognized internationally as a preeminent oenophile, one of four individuals in the world to be recognized in 2001 by the Smithsonian Institution for his acumen in the field. Tom possesses a two-million-dollar wine cellar, and has coordinated dinners for such notables as, for example, Prince Charles during the summer of 2004. Nashville’s most eligible bachelor, Tom writes Nfocus’ monthly Wine and Spirits column and is often seen on the social circuit and in better restaurants around the globe.
Susan Adcock arrived in Nashville having spent the first eight years of her professional life, writing progress notes in mental institutions. After three more years of experimental research, she found she could no longer resist looking out the window of her very swank office. In 1992, she became one of two staff photographers at The Nashville Scene and a year later, without any knowledge that she'd become Herbert Fox's weekend date for the next ten years, shot the premier issue of Nfocus. Since that time her work has appeared in publications ranging from Road King magazine to The Washington Post.
Christine Kreyling, born in 1949, is the oldest living writer for The Nashville Scene, where she has served as architecture and urban planning critic since 1990. A native of Cincinnati, she has an M.A. in art and architectural history from Vanderbilt University and is the former chief curator of the Cheekwood Museum of Art. She has authored or contributed to book length studies, including Classical Nashville A Plan for SoBro, From Post Office to Art Center: A Nashville Landmark in Transition and, most recently, The Plan of Nashville. Beginning with a feature on the adaptive reuse of Gloria Houghland's face, she is a regular contributor to Nfocus, covering design and whatever else pops into her head just before deadline.
