Viva italiaLa Bella Notte patrons kick off winter party seasonPublished on February 02, 2010 at 7:54amOne of the greatest naive misconceptions about Music City is that everyone listens to country music and only country music. We all know that is absolutely, positively false. Just ask the folks behind La Bella Notte, one of the grandest events in town put on by the Nashville Opera Guild. These people live and breathe the sophistication of opera music, right here in good ole Music City. La Bella Notte celebrates fabulous food and beautiful music each year, as partygoers enjoy different courses in between savoring their favorite music. <

If La Bella Notte's patrons party was any indication of the actual fête, opera lovers are in for a real treat. It was obvious that event chair Deb Tallent worked hand in hand with hosts Mike and Mary Spalding to make this a seriously spectacular party. The Italian-themed evening proved to be a winner, from the superb wine to the tasty cuisine. Caterer Sharon Johnson wowed guests with her impressive grub, which almost looked too gorgeous to eat. Stacks of fried mozzerella sandwiches and cheesy chicken-and-spinach cannelloni surely pleased everyone's taste buds. The Spalding's lovely home created an authentic vibe, leaving guests wondering if they had somehow been magically transported to the Italian countryside. Attendees fawned over the divine antiques that filled the cozy home as they simultaneously munched on the giant antipasto platter. Not surprisingly, their house was recently featured in Veranda magazine. La Bella Notte honorary chair Crystal Gayle and husband Bill Gatzimos mingled with fellow opera admirers. Folks were treated to a miniature performance as a sneak peek into the big night. Good food, great music, and a fabulous home were a winning combination. With a vast range of musical tastes in this city, we are lucky to have a group of folks like this: refined, engaging and, most importantly, fun!
