A night to remember
Ellen Nelson
Let it be known. Chairing the Swan Ball is a full-time job. It isn’t simply signing your name on a letter and dressing up to go to a party. Just ask Frances Spradley and Kathy Thomas. After their yearlong stint leading one of the nation’s most recognized and respected white-tie events, these ladies deserve one of those fabulous vacation packages from the Swan Ball Auction Party.
Fiery redheads burn up the Barn

What is it about Divas Nashvegas? Could it be beloved Hal Cato and his commitment to the Oasis Center and the children it helps? Maybe it’s the beautifully blond event chairs Allison DeMarcus and Fletcher Foster. Or perhaps it’s the passionate redhead who sings like a siren and exposes her heart and soul when she hits the stage—Nashville’s own queen of love—Wynonna.
Ride on

The French term, Grand Prix, means “richest or greatest prize” and is often used to designate the most challenging level of competition in a particular sport. For more than 20 years, the Music Country Grand Prix has brought us the ultimate in show jumping competition featuring Olympic caliber horses and riders. This year was no different with Sarah Tredennick aboard Special Verdict winning the $30,000 purse on a glorious Sunday afternoon at Mack and Sissie Anderton’s bucolic Brownland Farm. Saddle Up!, the region’s oldest and largest recreational therapeutic horseback riding program, is the Prix’s deserving beneficiary. Lynne Evans, who spearheaded this top-notch event in 1990, was this year’s MCGP honoree.
Swan Ball auction party

This year’s Swan Ball Auction party chairs had a brilliant idea—whether intentional or not. In contrast to the classic, clean elegance of the Ball’s black and white theme, the Auction party went color-crazy. Walking into the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, guests were greeted by a beautiful rainbow explosion. Magenta-hued lighting warmed the ballroom while a myriad of sherbet-colored lanterns added energy and sizzle to the room.
